The Metropolitan Cathedral of Cebu, dedicated to Saint Vitalis of Milan, is the seat of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Cebu in Cebu City, Philippines. Built in the squat, thick-walled manner of Spanish colonial churches to withstand typhoons, its trefoil-shaped facade bears carved floral motifs, an IHS inscription, and a pair of griffins. Much of the church was destroyed in World War II, leaving only the 1835 belfry, facade, and walls, and it was rebuilt in the 1950s under architect Jose Ma. Zaragosa.
