Located on Icoanei Street in Bucharest's Sector 2, the Central School is a historic monument designed by Ion Mincu, the pioneering architect of Romanian Revival architecture. Built in 1890, the structure exemplifies the Neo-Brâncovenesc style that Mincu championed. Originally established as the Royal Girls' Boarding School, the institution evolved through multiple iterations, serving as Zoia Kosmodemianskaia during the communist era before reverting to its historical name after the 1989 revolution. Today it functions as a comprehensive public educational facility offering instruction from pre-primary through secondary grades, with bilingual French instruction introduced in 1994 for advanced humanities and science tracks.
