The Certosa di Pavia is a Carthusian monastery in Lombardy, northern Italy, about 8 km north of Pavia, near the village of the same name. Built from 1396 to 1495, it once stood at the end of the Visconti Park, a hunting ground of the Visconti dukes of Milan. Unlike the plainness typical of the Carthusian order, its architecture is noted for its exuberance, blending Gothic and Renaissance styles, and it is attributed to Giovanni Antonio Amadeo.
