The CFA Training College in Fiskville, Victoria, was a Mission Revival complex built in 1926 to serve as the training facility for the Country Fire Authority, a large predominantly volunteer fire and emergency service responsible for fire and emergency management in regional Victoria. Located about ten kilometres south of Ballan on the site of a former beam wireless shortwave transmitter, the college is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register. The facility operated for nearly nine decades until its permanent closure in March 2015 following the discovery of contaminated water caused by the deliberate use of carcinogenic chemicals, compounded by documented links to a cancer cluster identified in 2011. The contamination extended to surrounding properties, and the closure threatened approximately eighty jobs, prompting CFA members to launch campaigns calling for proper decontamination and infrastructure investment.
