The Chakri Maha Prasat Throne Hall, situated in the central area of the Grand Palace in Rattanakosin, stands as one of the complex's eight principal royal halls. Commissioned by King Chulalongkorn in 1876 and completed in 1882, the structure showcases a striking fusion of Thai and Victorian architectural traditions. Comprising three prasats aligned along an east-west axis and connected by residential galleries, the building's most distinctive feature is its Western-style body crowned with a traditional Thai roof—a combination that has earned it the affectionate nickname "Farang Suam Chada," meaning a Westerner wearing a Thai crown. Positioned between the Phra Maha Monthien and Phra Maha Prasat groups, this architectural innovation has made the Chakri Maha Prasat Throne Hall one of the Grand Palace's most recognizable landmarks and a major draw for visitors.
