The Chanin Building is an Art Deco office skyscraper on the southwest corner of 42nd Street and Lexington Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, near Grand Central Terminal. Designed by John Sloan and T. Markoe Robertson of Sloan & Robertson, it was built in 1927–1929 for developer Irwin S. Chanin. Its brick and terracotta facade carries sculpture by Rene Paul Chambellan, and its numerous setbacks respond to the 1916 Zoning Resolution.
