The Château de La Brède is a Gothic castle in La Brède, in the Gironde department of France, set among water-filled moats and an English garden in a Bordelais vineyard. Begun in 1306 on the site of an earlier castle, it has kept its character as a fortress despite centuries of alteration. The philosopher Montesquieu was born there and wrote most of his works there, and his bedroom survives as it was in the 18th century.
