The Château de Pau is a castle in the centre of Pau, capital of Pyrénées-Atlantiques and Béarn, where it dominates its quarter. Built in the Renaissance style and attributed to Vincent Latapie, Louis-Auguste Couvrechef and Alexis Paccard, it was the birthplace of Henry IV of France and Navarre on 13 December 1553. Napoleon later used it as a holiday home. Classified as a Monument historique since 1840, it now houses the Musée national du Château de Pau, which contains a collection of tapestries.
