Chatsworth House is an English country house and historic house museum in the Derbyshire Dales, about 4 miles north-east of Bakewell. Bess of Hardwick began building it in 1553, and it has belonged to the Cavendish family since 1549. The house was rebuilt from 1687 under William Cavendish, 4th Earl of Devonshire, and later remodelled in the 18th century, when Capability Brown reworked the gardens. It is a Grade I listed building.
