Chicago, United States

Demolished or destroyed.
The Chicago Federal Building stood in Chicago's Loop, on a block bounded by Dearborn, Adams and Clark Streets and Jackson Boulevard. Designed in the Beaux-Arts style by Henry Ives Cobb and built between 1898 and 1905, it housed federal courts, the main post office and other government bureaus. Its six-story Greek cross plan rose on a two-story base, with a gilt dome at the crossing above a drum holding eight more office floors. The building was demolished in 1965 and replaced by the Kluczynski Federal Building.
