The China National Opera House, also known as the China Central Opera (中央歌剧院), is a state-run opera company in Beijing's Dongzhimen Subdistrict, under the Ministry of Culture. It comprises an opera troupe, a choir, a symphony orchestra, and stagecraft, costume and scenery departments, and it traces its inception to 1942. Through common direction under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, it is affiliated with the Shanghai Opera House company and other geju companies across China.
