Chips is a nine-storey residential apartment building beside the Ashton Canal in New Islington, east Manchester, England, part of the New Islington Millennium Village urban renewal project led by Urban Splash. Designed by Will Alsop, founder of Alsop Architects, and built in 2009, it was requested by Tom Bloxham of Urban Splash to be away from "mundanity." In January 2018 it failed a Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service risk assessment after its cladding was found to read "non fire retardant."
