Chlemoutsi, also known as Clermont, is a medieval castle in the northwest of the Elis regional unit in the Peloponnese, southern Greece. Built in the early 1220s by the Crusader rulers of the Principality of Achaea as their main stronghold, it is perhaps the finest surviving fortification of the early Frankish period in Greece. A central hexagonal keep surrounds an inner courtyard, and the castle remains largely in its 13th-century state. It was never besieged, and today it is a preserved monument open to the public.
