Christ Church Lutheran in Minneapolis is a modernist ecclesiastical complex designed by the Finnish-American architects Eliel and Eero Saarinen. The sanctuary with integrated chapel, completed in 1949, was followed by an education wing in 1962, together forming a work of International Style design that has achieved international recognition. The buildings were designated a National Historic Landmark in 2009. The congregation itself, established in 1911 as part of the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod, later became affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America after departing the Missouri Synod during theological disputes in the 1970s.
