The Church of Saint Basil of Ostrog, completed in 2001 in the Bežanijska Kosa neighbourhood of New Belgrade, is the first Orthodox church built in that district since World War II. Designed by architect Mihajlo Mitrović in Byzantine Revival style, the building employs an "old Christian" rotunda plan with side galleries and a prominent bell-tower positioned to the west. Construction began in 1996 and was funded entirely by civilians devoted to the saint, who is venerated as a miracle-worker in Serbian Orthodox tradition.
