The Church of St Thomas à Becket stands in the village of Capel, Kent, four miles east of Tonbridge, and dates to around 1150, exemplifying Norman architectural style. Now a redundant Anglican church, it is Grade I listed and cared for by the Churches Conservation Trust. Local tradition holds that Thomas Becket himself preached either within the church or beneath a yew tree in its churchyard, lending the building both spiritual and historical resonance.
