The Church of the Holy Sepulchre, also called the Church of the Resurrection, stands in the Christian Quarter of Jerusalem's Old City and is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built in the fourth century under Constantine the Great, it is shared by the Armenian, Greek Orthodox, and Catholic Latin patriarchates. It encloses the traditional sites of the crucifixion and the empty tomb of Jesus, the tomb housed in a 19th-century shrine called the Aedicule. Its architecture blends Early Christian, Romanesque, and Gothic elements, reflecting rebuilding after its destruction in 1009.
