Standing in Madrid, this Catholic parish church completed in 1912 exemplifies the neo-Mudéjar architectural style that flourished in Spain during the early twentieth century. Designed by architects Dimas Rodríguez and Lorenzo Álvarez Capra, the Church of Virgen de la Paloma and San Pedro el Real blends ornamental traditions drawn from medieval Islamic and Christian architecture in a distinctly modern interpretation. The neo-Mudéjar approach, which reinterpreted Iberian heritage through contemporary building practices, lent the church its distinctive character amid Madrid's expanding urban landscape of the period.
