Barcelona City Hall, the seat of Barcelona City Council, stands on Plaça Sant Jaume in the Gothic Quarter, opposite the Palau de la Generalitat. Its Gothic facade, designed by Arnau Bargués, was built between 1399 and 1402, and a neoclassical facade by Josep Mas i Vila followed between 1830 and 1847. The building retains the Saló de Cent, where the medieval Consell de Cent governed the city.
