City Hall station is a closed underground station on the IRT Lexington Avenue Line of the New York City Subway, beneath City Hall Park beside New York City Hall in Manhattan. It opened on October 27, 1904, as one of the original 28 stations of the system and closed on December 31, 1945, though its track still serves as a turning loop. Designed by Rafael Guastavino with Heins & LaFarge, it is unique in the system for its Romanesque Revival architecture, featuring Guastavino tile, skylights, colored glass tilework, and brass chandeliers. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
