The Former City Hall stands in Singapore's Downtown Core, in front of the Padang and beside the Former Supreme Court. Designed by A. Gordans and F. D. Meadows of the Municipal Commission of Singapore, the Neoclassical building was constructed between 1926 and 1929 on the site of earlier houses. A flight of stairs rises from its Corinthian colonnade. First known as the Municipal Building, it was gazetted a national monument on 14 February 1992.
