The Civic Opera Building is a 45-story Art Deco office tower with two 22-story wings at 20 North Wacker Drive in Chicago, opened on November 4, 1929. Its massing resembles a huge chair, sometimes called "Insull's Throne," and Samuel Insull directed that the chair face west. The building contains the 3,563-seat Civic Opera House, the second-largest opera auditorium in North America and the permanent home of the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
