Cliveden is an Italianate English country house on a ridge of the Chiltern Hills above the River Thames, near Taplow in Buckinghamshire. The present Grade I listed house was built in 1851 by Charles Barry for the 2nd Duke of Sutherland, after two earlier houses on the site were destroyed by fire. Built of Roman cement and terracotta, it is now a luxury hotel, while its 375-acre gardens and woodlands are open to the public.
