The Sarajevo Clock Tower stands beside the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque in Bosnia and Herzegovina's capital, reaching 30 meters to become the tallest of 21 clock towers erected throughout the country. Built in Ottoman vernacular style from tufa and limestone, this heritage structure displays a distinctive lunar timepiece in which the hands align at 12 o'clock at sunset, marking the moment of the Muslim Maghrib prayer. A muvakkit, or timekeeper, manually adjusts the clock once weekly to maintain its sacred timekeeping function. Declared a National Monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2006, the tower represents an enduring example of Ottoman timekeeping tradition and remains a cultural landmark within Sarajevo's historic ensemble.
