Demolished or destroyed.
The London Coal Exchange stood on the north side of Thames Street in the City of London, nearly opposite Old Billingsgate Market, and occupied three successive structures from 1770 to 1962. Its third building, designed by James Bunstone Bunning in Ferrovitreous and Italianate styles, was opened by Prince Albert in 1849 and was one of the first substantial buildings constructed from cast iron. It was demolished in 1962 to widen what is now Lower Thames Street, despite a Victorian Society campaign to save it.
