This historic armory in Guntersville, Alabama, was constructed in 1936 by the Works Progress Administration as one of thirty-six WPA-funded National Guard buildings across the state. Unlike its sister armories' Streamline Moderne aesthetic, this structure displays a distinctive castellated style, featuring rough limestone block walls and two flanking towers that frame its main entry. The hilltop setting amplifies its fortress-like appearance. After the company was dissolved in 1978, the building served as a fire station until 1998, when it underwent renovation to become the Guntersville Museum in 2006. The armory now anchors a public park complex that includes a library and community theater, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.
