Corbin Building
Manhattan, United States

Exterior only
Visible from the street; the inside is private.
The Corbin Building is an office building at the northeast corner of John Street and Broadway in Manhattan's Financial District. Designed by Francis H. Kimball in Romanesque Revival style with French Gothic detailing and built in 1888–1889 as a speculative development, it is named for Austin Corbin, a Long Island Rail Road president. Its polychrome brick, brownstone and terracotta exterior and Guastavino tile vaults are notable, as is its use of load-bearing masonry and cast-iron beams rather than a steel skeleton.
