Criccieth Castle is a ruined thirteenth-century castle on a rocky headland overlooking Tremadog Bay in Criccieth, Gwynedd, Wales. Begun in the 1230s by Llywelyn ap Iorwerth, prince of Gwynedd, it was extended by his grandson Llywelyn ap Gruffudd and captured by Edward I in 1283. Its twin-towered inner gatehouse survives to almost its full height, and the castle is now maintained by Cadw and open to the public.
