Located in the Alta Vista district of San Antonio, the David J. and May Bock Woodward House is a 2½-story Classic Revival residence designed by architect Atlee Ayres in 1904–1905 for businessman David J. Woodward and his wife May Bock Woodward. The couple were prolific home developers who flipped twenty-three properties during their marriage, with David constructing and May decorating each residence before selling at profit. Following David's death in 1925, May sold the house in 1926 to the Woman's Club of San Antonio for $47,000, where it continues to serve as the organization's clubhouse. The original interior comprised a parlor, library, butler's pantry, office, and dining room on the first floor, with five bedrooms and a sitting room on the second, while the top floor featured a ballroom with window box seats. Later modifications by the club converted three bedrooms into a meeting room and converted the ballroom to storage. The house was designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1994 and added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 16, 1996.
