De Noord was a tower mill on the Oostplein in Rotterdam, Netherlands, built between 1695 and 1711 to replace a post mill that had stood on the site since around 1562. It ground malt until the nineteenth century, then grain for animal feed. It was one of the few buildings to survive the German bombing of Rotterdam in World War II and became a symbol of Dutch resistance during the occupation. A fire destroyed it in the night of 27–28 July 1954, and the remains were demolished soon after.
