De Rat is a smock mill in IJlst, Friesland, in the Netherlands. Originally built in the seventeenth century at Zaanstreek, North Holland, it was moved to IJlst in 1828. It worked by wind power until 1920 and by electric motor until 1950. Bought by the town in 1956, it was restored in the mid-1960s and mid-1970s to full working order. It grinds for trade, serves as a training mill, and is a Rijksmonument.
