Deal Castle is an artillery fort in Deal, Kent, built by Henry VIII between 1539 and 1540 as part of the King's Device programme against invasion from France and the Holy Roman Empire. Its moated stone keep is surrounded by six inner and outer bastions, with sixty-six firing positions for artillery. Built of Kentish ragstone and Caen stone, it is a scheduled monument now operated by English Heritage.
