The Detroit Yacht Club, founded in 1868, is a private club on its own island off Belle Isle in the Detroit River, between the MacArthur Bridge and the DTE generating plant. Its restored 1920s clubhouse is a Mediterranean-style villa, which is the largest yacht club clubhouse in the United States. The club is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
