Dolwyddelan Castle stands west of the village of Dolwyddelan in Conwy County Borough, Wales. Probably begun by Llywelyn ab Iorwerth, ruler of Gwynedd, between 1210 and 1240 to guard an east–west route, it is built of siltstone on a small knoll, with a keep on the east side and a western tower linked by walls into a roughly circular enclosure. Restored between 1848 and 1850 and placed in state care in 1930, it is a Grade I listed building and scheduled monument.
