Visible from the street; the inside is private.
The Dr. J. Howell Way House stands at the south end of Main Street in Waynesville, Haywood County, North Carolina. Built in 1899 for Dr. J. Howell Way, a prominent physician, it is a large 3½-story brick dwelling combining Queen Anne and Colonial Revival elements, with a widow's walk atop its roof. Its wraparound porch, porte-cochère, and grand staircase reflect its design. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
