Dublin Castle is a major Irish government complex, conference centre and tourist attraction off Dame Street in central Dublin. Originally a motte-and-bailey castle on the highest point of central Dublin, it was largely rebuilt as a Georgian palace from the late 17th century, and many of its current buildings date from the 18th century. Until 1922 it was the seat of British administration in Ireland, and it now hosts the inauguration of each President of Ireland.
