The East Room is the largest state room in the White House's Executive Residence, designed by the architectural firm McKim, Mead & White. Serving as the primary venue for major state functions, the East Room accommodates dances, receptions, press conferences, ceremonies, concerts, and banquets. Among the last rooms to be completed and decorated in the Executive Residence, it has undergone substantial redecoration across two centuries. Since 1964, the Committee for the Preservation of the White House has advised the president and first lady on the room's décor, preservation, and conservation as part of its broader mandate over the White House's public spaces.
