Designed by Carl Ludvig Engel and completed in 1838, the Engel building in Hämeenlinna serves as the main structure of the Hämeenlinna Art Museum in Finland. As a work by the prominent neoclassical architect Engel, who shaped much of Helsinki's architectural character, the building represents an important example of early 19th-century Finnish institutional design.
