Les Espaces d'Abraxas is a high-density housing complex in Noisy-le-Grand, some 12 kilometers from Paris, completed in 1983 to address acute housing shortages following postwar urbanization. Designed by Ricardo Bofill and his architecture practice (RBTA) as part of the French government's "New Towns" initiative, the 64-meter concrete structure embodies postmodern principles by merging classical motifs with contemporary building technology to create a luxury aesthetic accessible beyond the upper classes—a vision aligned with Bofill's left-wing ideals. The complex achieved early international recognition despite initial criticism, and has since served as a distinctive filming location for cinema and television, including *Brazil*, *The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2*, and *Arcadia*.
