The Evangelische Kirche Billigheim in Billigheim, Germany, is a modernist church designed by Otto Bartning using his innovative Bausatzsystem (building-kit system). Originally constructed in 1950 in Ludwigshafen am Bodensee, the prefabricated structure was relocated to its present site in Billigheim in 1964. Bartning's systematized approach to church construction allowed for efficient assembly and, as demonstrated here, relocatability—making this building a notable example of mid-twentieth-century modular architectural thinking applied to religious structures.
