The Federal Palace in Bern houses the Swiss Federal Assembly and the Federal Council, serving as the seat of Swiss government and parliament. Designed by Hans Wilhelm Auer, who directed its construction, the symmetrical complex of three interconnected buildings stretches just over 300 metres. Its central parliament building, erected between 1894 and 1902, is a neo-Renaissance structure with a portico and a striking dome. The complex is a Class A Swiss cultural property of national significance.
