The Field Museum of Natural History is a natural history museum in Chicago, Illinois, built in 1893 in the Greek Revival style and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is a private nonprofit institution that operates in partnership with the Chicago Park District, which owns the land and building. Named for its first major benefactor, the department-store magnate Marshall Field, the museum grew out of artifacts displayed at the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition.
