The Fisherman's Bastion stands near Buda Castle in District I of Budapest, Hungary, and is one of the city's best-known historical monuments. Designed by Frigyes Schulek in Neo-Romanesque style, it was built between 1895 and 1902 on the base of an older stretch of castle wall. Its seven high-pitched stone towers symbolise the seven chieftains of the Hungarians who founded Hungary in 895, and its terraces offer a panoramic view of the city.
