Fitzroy House stands on the High Street in Lewes, East Sussex, a Victorian structure designed by the eminent architect George Gilbert Scott in neo-Gothic style and completed in 1862. Originally built as the Fitzroy Memorial Library, it served as Lewes' first public library from 1897 until 1956, when it was converted to offices. After two decades of neglect, the building was restored and functioned as a private residence for some forty years while occasionally hosting musical and theatrical performances. The structure is distinguished by its double-height Octagon Room, a striking architectural feature at its core. The building is listed at Grade II.
