The Folklife and Ethnological Museum of Macedonia and Thrace occupies the Villa Modiano, also called the Old Government House, in Thessaloniki, Greece. Built in 1906 by the architect Eli Modiano for the banker Jacob Modiano on a 5-hectare seafront plot, the eclectic building is strongly influenced by Art Nouveau and is distinguished by its double loggia with a view of the sea. Founded in 1973 by the Macedonian Educational Association, the museum holds some 15,000 objects of traditional regional culture, including textiles, costumes, tools and musical instruments.
