Designed by architect Albert Kahn, the Ford Motor Company Assembly Plant in Richmond, California, was the largest assembly plant constructed on the West Coast. Built during the industrial expansion of the early twentieth century, the facility played a crucial role in American manufacturing and later became vital to the nation's wartime production efforts during World War II. Today, the plant is recognized as part of the Rosie the Riveter/World War II Home Front National Historical Park and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The complex now serves multiple purposes, housing a National Park Service visitor center, private businesses, and the Craneway Pavilion event venue, preserving its industrial legacy while adapting to contemporary use.
