The Franciscan Church is a Gothic church in the Old Town of Bratislava, Slovakia, and the oldest surviving religious building in that district. Consecrated in 1297 in the presence of King Andrew III of Hungary, it hosted large gatherings and the 1526 election of Ferdinand I as King of Hungary. Fire and earthquake damage left only part of the original structure, most notably the presbytery, while the adjacent Chapel of Saint John the Evangelist, with its crypt, built in the second half of the 14th century, is considered one of the finest Gothic works in the city.
