Friedrichswerder Church, in Berlin's Mitte district, was the first Neo-Gothic church built in the German capital. Designed and constructed from 1824 to 1831 by Karl Friedrich Schinkel—an architect principally known for Neoclassical work—the brick structure represents a notable departure into the Gothic Revival style. Managed by the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation and part of the Berlin State Museums, it now functions as both a church and museum. Following structural damage from nearby construction, the building underwent extensive restoration completed in October 2019. It currently houses exhibitions including nineteenth-century German sculptures by Schadow, Schinkel, and Rauch on the lower floor, with an upper-floor exhibition dedicated to Schinkel's own work and life.
