Genoa Cathedral, formally the Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Lawrence, is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Genoa, Italy, dedicated to Saint Lawrence and seat of the Archbishop of Genoa. Work began in 1098 and Pope Gelasius II consecrated it in 1118. Built mainly between the twelfth and fourteenth centuries, it blends Romanesque secondary naves with a Gothic main facade from the early thirteenth century, while its bell tower and dome date from the sixteenth century.
