Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School, a private college-preparatory school for girls in Washington, D.C.'s historic Georgetown neighborhood, was founded in 1799 by the Order of the Visitation of Holy Mary. Among the oldest continuously operating schools for girls in the United States and the oldest Catholic girls' school in the original Thirteen Colonies, the institution is housed in a Renaissance Revival structure. Though independent of the Archdiocese of Washington, the school remains rooted in its Catholic religious heritage and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
